Same Day Dental Crown: how are they made?

The creation and placement of a dental crown in one visit to our Skokie dental office are made possible with advanced digital technology. The process begins with digital dental impressions that are used to design a crown that will fit securely and allow for a comfortable bite. Dr. Stein or Dr. Weiss can take these impressions chair-side and use the images immediately to fabricate your new crown. We use high-quality ceramic material just like a dental lab. The in-office milling machine will use our digital crown design to create a custom crown out of a block of material.

Once the crown is completed in the milling machine, your dentist will place it on your tooth and make adjustments as needed so that it is stable and comfortable. The crown is hand-polished so that the surface is smooth.

Am I a candidate for a same-day crown?

Most patients can receive a same-day dental crown. Dr. Stein or Dr. Weiss will evaluate your dental health needs and discuss whether a same-day or traditional crown is the best option.

How long does a same-day crown take?

The entire process is about 90 minutes on average. It may be longer if there is significant tooth preparation or adjustments needed for the crown.

Can a broken crown be replaced with a same-day crown?
