At the Stein Center for Advanced Dentistry, we strive to offer patients an exceptional experience. Dr. Stein and Dr. Weiss have incorporated digital technology into our dental practice in Skokie with the goal of improving all aspects of your care. From diagnostics to treatment planning and procedures, digital dentistry can improve accuracy, predictability, and outcomes.
What is “digital dentistry”?
The term digital dentistry refers to the use of digital technology in the dentist’s office. X-rays or radiographs and other types of scanning used in dentistry are now able to be done using digital technology. For patients, this means a less invasive experience. Digital scanning produces immediate, high-quality imagery that our dentists can use to diagnose, evaluate, and treatment plan. Digital x-rays and scans reduce or eliminate exposure to radiation and give a more in-depth look at all structures affecting your oral health: soft tissue, hard tissue, nerves, and muscles.
As a prosthodontist, Dr. Stein provides specialized care for tooth damage and loss. The ability to perform a 3-D CBCT digital scan in our office means that patients do not have to travel to a specialist for scans. CBCT scanning plays a key role in the placement of dental implants and a successful result. Without the in-depth knowledge of a patient’s surrounding nerves and tissues when placing an implant, there is a risk of the implant failing in the future or of damage to the nerves. Dr. Stein can perform the necessary scans and discuss his findings and recommendations with the patient in the same visit.
We use a handheld digital scanner when taking dental impressions for many types of dental procedures. Much less invasive and more comfortable than traditional impression trays filled with goop, digital impressions also offer a clearer picture of tooth structure and surrounding tissues for use in the creation of dental restorations. Patients can now enjoy more customized dental crowns, veneers, and other types of restorations that are made using digital impressions.
