Your Dental Care During COVID-19

The coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has stopped many people and businesses in their tracks. During this period of uncertainty, we will continue to do what we have always done at The Stein Center for Advanced Dentistry– to serve our patients with the highest standards of patient care. Our office wants you to be informed about the precautions we are taking to ensure your safety in our office. Additionally, we want to provide you with some information on how you can best care for your oral health during this time.

THE STEIN CENTER’S RESPONSE TO COVID-19

The Stein Center for Advanced Dentistry will continue to use our hospital-grade sterilization and sterile water supply systems. We will also continue to sanitize all surfaces in all common areas and all treatment rooms, before, during and after treatment. Our cleaning service will continue to thoroughly clean the office every single day. Our staff will continue to thoroughly wash their hands before, during and after treatment which is on average 100 times per day.

Our office hours remain unchanged at this time. We will be monitoring all CDC recommendations for dental offices and implementing those recommendations as diligently as possible.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

In high-stress situations such as the COVID-19 crisis, it’s important that everyone does their part in remaining healthy and safe. Stress can take a toll on your oral health. We have a few suggestions on how to avoid the consequences that stress can have on your oral health throughout this crisis:

  • Maintain a Healthy Diet – During high-stress situations, patients often turn to sugary or sticky foods and drinks for comfort. In moderation, these substances are fine. However, if you do not limit your intake of these substances, you could face plaque buildup or tooth discoloration later on. Substances to limit would be sodas, red wine, hard candies, red berries, and potato chips.   Additionally, you should avoid smoking tobacco products.
  • Maintain Good Oral Hygiene – Maintaining a good oral hygiene regimen now can save you a boatload of stress later. Even though this crisis is stressful, please remember to continue brushing your teeth and flossing at least twice a day to prevent future dental concerns. Your oral health is directly connected to your overall health. That’s why it’s so important to practice good oral hygiene even when times get tough.
  • Practice Mindfulness –  Teeth grinding is a common reaction to stress; however, it can have damaging effects on your teeth and peace of mind. Remind yourself throughout the day to unclench your jaw and stretch your face muscles. Wiggle your jaw around to relieve tension.
